
Dance education is more than just mastering steps; it builds both skill and character. In our programs, students explore a wide range of styles with depth and intention. At Dovetail Studios, dance is more than just an art form; it is a developmental path akin to sports. We prioritize individual progress in any dance technique a student chooses to pursue. Our studio caters to dancers from early childhood to seasoned professionals, creating a dynamic environment where students can witness their journey from novice to expert. The blend of ages and skill levels within our studio makes training at Dovetail a truly unique experience, and we take pride in delivering exceptional dance training programs.

Tiny Tots class is for kids ages 3 - 4 years old, Pre-Ballet is for kids ages 5 - 6. Pre-Hip Hop starts at age 5. Our Youth classes start at age 7. Youth classes include hip hop, ballet, ACRO, contemporary jazz, modern, musical theatre, and competition company. Students are placed in classes based on age, experience and teacher recommendation. Part of the Dovetail Studio Policies and aligned with our studio rules and policies and dance rules and regulations, the following applies to all students:
Registration Classes
Refunds for the full amount are granted if cancellation occurs two weeks before the commencement of the class session. No refunds will be granted once the session begins. Transfers to another class or pro-rated class credit may be permitted before registration closes (generally 5 weeks into the session) based upon staff discretion. Any credit given is only available for 6 months. Passes are also only available for 6 months – there are no extensions.
Class Packages
If you sign up and know that you cannot attend, please cancel at least one hour before class time to avoid a pass charge.
Class Etiquette
Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of class. This allows you time to change and get settled. For those enrolled in the youth division, tardiness will result in not being able to participate, and the student will need to observe the class instead. Dancers should treat their teachers and classmates with kindness and respect. Only water is allowed into the studios. Children will have a supervised water break and are asked not to bring water bottles into the classroom.
DRESS CODE for Kids Classes
Pre-Ballet: Pink tights, white leotard, pink ballet shoes.
Youth Ballet all levels: Black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes.
Contemporary and ACRO all levels: Black leotard, black leggings or shorts.
Musical Theater all levels: Black leotard, black leggings or shorts, black jazz shoes.
Hip Hop: Comfortable clothing, clean sneakers.
HAIR: If hair is long enough it must go in a bun for ballet. All other classes it must be secured in a ponytail.
Kids who come unprepared for class will be asked to sit out.
ATTENDANCE POLICIES
Attendance is very important for dancers at every age and ability level. Poor attendance will prevent students from improving and progressing through the program.
